The Masters

The Masters

These photos are from the 2006 Masters. My long time student Kevin Marsh received that coveted Masters invitation by winning the 2005 U.S. Mid- Amateur Championship. The trip was quite memorable. We had arranged a Monday practice round with Ben Crenshaw. On Tuesday we got up at the crack of dawn and played with Tiger Woods and Mark O'meara. Kevin stayed on site at Augusta C.C. in the Crows Nest were the four Amateur qualifiers slept for the week. Everyday Kevin and I would do some range work. I mainly worked on his leg and feet stability. When Kevin gets a little tired, which can happen competing in the grueling week of The Masters, his lower body starts to move around to much.  During the tournament rounds, Kevin was paired with Padrig Harrington who was a true gentleman. Kevin shot 78 the first day. However, the second day he started off hot and was two under for the round going into the sixth hole when he hit a wonderful shot on the sixth that landed five feet from the pin but caught a slope and ended up fifty feet away. He went on to four putt and wound up the round shooting 81. What a great experience.
